I'm really struggling with this whole dressing a little girl thing. The older she gets the more inept I feel to pick out cute clothes. Apparently I'm really not stylish.
I like to think that I can at least recognize cute and stylish clothes, but I always fail when trying to put them together into an outfit. I swear there must be some secret ingredient that I'm missing. (If you know what this ingredient is stop holding out and share it with me.) I pick out cute clothes and yet once I get them on they don't look right, not as put together as I'd like. What do other people do to there kids that makes them look so put together in their clothes? Don't get me wrong, Ellie would look cute dressed in a paper bag, but sometimes it would be nice to pull together a decent outfit. Every once in a while I'll find an outfit that I really think looks good. When this happens you can bet you will see that outfit over and over and over again, as I'm pretty proud of myself.
I dread the day I have to also style her hair. My poor adorable baby girl deserves to have a mommy that can get her all dolled up to show off how incredibly cute she is. I'll take any advice, tips, comments, pictures that you all have to contribute on this topic. I know that there are more important things to teach her and that I need to teach her that appearances aren't important and all that, but I also want her to be able to express her personality with clothes and appearance too. It's a little early for that, I know, but how will I ever teach her if I can't even begin to do it myself.
Thanks for reading.

Buy outfits that come together on the hanger??? :)
And the hair. . .youtube is amazing!! Without it, I would have shaved Kiana's head! chuckle
My advice (as an also fashionably challenged woman):
#1 Call Andrea
#2 Then call Lauren
#3 Buy her a really good pair of jeans for every size (or call me, I have them!). You can hardly screw up jeans, unless of course you let her wear tapered leg jeans with tennis shoes because they obviously go with flats (ask Lauren).
#4 Tell people she needs clothes for her birthday & Christmas (& by people I mean Andrea & Lauren)--they are sure to put together cute outfits for her
#5 Hair--when her hair is long enough to do something with call Andrea and tell her that her hair needs styled. She'll come show you how to do it--repeat that hairstyle everyday until she shows you something new.
Do you see my fashion theme here? Natalee wears sweats & t's everyday except when we are going somewhere fancy--then I put on her an outfit that my sisters picked out or one that I dared to put together with their approval. I don't do her hair everyday but Andrea has showed me how to do a ponytail, side ponytail and pig tails. You have to block out the screaming while putting these in.
Good luck...when all else fails try the paper bag!
I will ALWAYS be available to help...not that I am any fashion guru or anything:)
