I had such a crazy good time this weekend I felt like I needed to share it with people.
It was one of those spontaneously perfect weekends that God throws at you every once in a while.
We had a birthday party Sat. morning, but Steve had to do some reports at work first. So we packed up the kids and took them in to Steve's work for about an hour so we wouldn't have to go back home. It's always so fun to take them in to his work and have his co-workers ohhh and aww over them.
Next we stopped at the second hand store where I got to shop for my little baby doll, as she is growing faster than mommy anticipated and is running out of winter clothes already.
Then, on to the Birthday party, where we got to visit, eat and celebrate with a very special 2 year old. Kids birthday parties are so fun. Who doesn't want to celebrate another year of such cuteness.
After the party we went to my parents house where I spent the afternoon helping decorate Barbie's dream house with my mom. It was SO fun. I got to be crafty, thrifty, green and girlie all at the same time. I made a bed out of a granola bar box and a bathroom sink out of a spoon. We made sure every room had at least some pink in it and I can't wait to see my nieces reaction when she opens it. After taking the grand-kids pictures for Christmas cards we finally made it home just in time for the kids to go to bed.
I took the opportunity to do absolutely nothing. I relished the chance to just sit and not work on anything. (I'll regret it when my Christmas presents aren't done, but for the time being it was great.)
Sunday we took Levi to a movie, which he absolutely loved. It was so nice to have some Levi time. He's such a great big brother and has so graciously shared mommy and daddy with his sister, but it was nice to focus on him for awhile. Also, I loved at the movie's anytime that there was a kissing scene he would tell me he loved me and give me a kiss. I think it's so sweet that right now all kisses and love (for him) is the kind of love a boy has for his mommy.
Finally I took Steve out for his birthday Sun. night, just the two of us. Date nights are few and far between, I think that's the way it should be for now. Our kids won't be young forever, we'll have lots of time for date nights when they don't want to spend time with us anymore. I can survive on these few wonderful evenings until then.
This weekend had everything and I felt very aware of all the amazing blessings in my life!
Thanks for reading.
