Saturday we took a routine trip to Wal-Mart. Levi was not a happy camper he whined pretty much the entire trip. I was seriously beginning to think he was getting sick. When we left the store we noticed the Fire Dept. was there collecting money for MDA. Steve took Levi over to look at the fire trucks while I put the groceries in the car. At this point it was just anything to distract him until we could get out of there. You've never seen a mood change so fast. Levi went from crying to a grinning in a second. Steve walked him all around the truck and and Levi pointed out the hoses, extinguisher, and asked about the ladder and gas masks. (His favorite book of the moment is a book about Fire Trucks, so he is very well versed in their equipment. I mean how many two year olds do you know that know what a pike pole is?) After walking around the trucks and looking for a while one of the Fire Fighters came over to us. I was just sure he was going to tell us we needed to move on, but I was wrong. This very nice, very patient man opened up the truck, let my son sit in the driver's seat, started the truck, even dug a gas mask out of the back for him to see. I can not thank Joe and the KVFD enough for making the day of one very excited little boy. They even invited us to the fire house sometime for a complete tour. I swear, you would think I would learn not to underestimate the kindness of people.
The only bummer was that, as usual, I was without my camera. When will I learn?
Thanks for reading.

I kept scrolling down, waiting for pictures! What a great memory anyway though!
When will you learn!? I've started carrying mine in my purse & have used it several times! But what a cute story--so awesome that you got the guy's name...bet they'd love a thank-you & picture of your future firefighter! Is that what Levi's going to be for Halloween?
What IS a pike pole?
