I always debate about posting about things like this. On the one hand I want a record. On the other hand I feel like it makes me look like a bad Mommy. Well, here goes anyway. Please don't judge me to harshly, and if you do keep those opinions to yourself.
Saturday after Levi ate lunch, he was running around playing. Steve had gone out to the garage to put ice cream back in the freezer. Levi was running to the door when Steve came back and tripped over his own feet. SPLAT! Face plant into the couch. He immediately started crying, but I wasn't to worried, because he also cries when his favorite show on TV is over. Steve picked him up and that's when we noticed the blood. Poor thing managed to fall on the one hard spot on the couch. He knocked one of his front teeth back so that it is now behind his back teeth when he closes his mouth. He cried for about an hour while we tried frantically to get a dentist on the phone. We called and were told by the emergency room that there would be no point taking him there, he would have to be seen by a dentist. Finally got a Dentist on the phone (emergency numbers my foot) They (we talked to two) told us I'm sure he'll be fine we can see him on Monday. After we finally got him calmed down and down for a nap he has been fine ever since. Doesn't seem to be in any pain and the tooth is starting to come forward a little bit. The dentist we saw on Monday seemed to think everything was fine, and gave us some things to look out for.
I just wanted to record this incident for future reference. I know that there was nothing I could have done to prevent him from tripping and short of removing all furniture from the house, no way to guarantee he won't hit anything, but I still feel like such a terrible Mom. I just hope his permanent teeth aren't damaged or crocked.
Thanks for reading.

he will be fine! you aren't a bad mommy. things like this happen every day. my dentist said when braylon was sucking his thumb that it wouldn't affect his permanent teeth until they came in and then if he still sucked it then if would cause some problems. so maybe that is the case here too since it is just his baby teeth. hang in there, you guys are great parents!
poor kid, bee sting at my house...teeth at his house. ask bree about telling a kid she's fine and then seeing the black eye:) hee hee! it's no biggie and you're great parents!
kids will be kids...we can't put them in bubbles so we just have to do the best we can. every time Natalee loses her balance and falls over I feel awful and then realize that she's a kid and kids do things like this!! you're a great mama and levi knows that! if you were bad parents you wouldn't have tried to call a dentist! :)
Corin, I usually don't comment on here but I just wanted to let you know you need not fear. Holly hit her mouth on my grandma's coffee table when she was 2. She not only knocked her tooth back, she also split her gum above the tooth. Her baby tooth discolored but it went back into place and the gum healed around it fine. Her permanent teeth were perfect when they came in.
