Morals Clause

Hold on just a second while I get my soap box out. I'll just dust it off a little and... Okay, let me get myself up here without falling off. Alright I'm ready. Are you ready?

You know me I love to take up for causes that no one cares about and I'm at it again.
I think that the NFL, and all other professional sports organizations for that matter, should have some sort of morals clause in there contracts. Oh, sure they have a personal conduct clause, but apparently it is completely meaningless. If I had my way it would be very simple, get convicted of a felony and your career is OVER. Not suspended, not out until you get back from jail, OVER. I think it is ridiculous that Michael Vick is being allowed back into the NFL. He was convicted of arranging dog fights, spent like what 1 yr. in prison and now he gets to resume is multi-million dollar career. That's just great, I'm sure he really learned a lesson. That lesson being if your rich and (I'm guessing) talented you can get yourself out of pretty much anything. Plaxico Burress is up for felony gun charges and has had no official disciplinary action taken against him. The man shot himself in the leg! I don't know these people and have nothing against them personally, but I think that we need to hold professional athletes to higher standards. Not committing a felony is not even that high of a standard, I'm not saying they should be Mother Theresa or anything. I mean kids look up to these people. It's unacceptable to give them a slap on the wrist and then allow them to continue there million dollar careers. I say if you can't keep yourself from committing a felony there are lots of other athletes who would love to have your career and your salary.
Okay, I'll just put my soapbox away until next time.
Thanks for reading.

So agree! How sad it is that there are also players playing that have killed someone in drunk driving accidents too.
